Background
The creation of The New Brunswick Council Award was approved by a motion of the Provincial Council in 1989. The design, an oval pewter medallion on a blue corded ribbon, incorporated an image of New Brunswick's official bird, the back-capped Chickadee.
In 2001, the design was refined with Provincial Council approval. An optional bow pin attachment was added.
Purpose
The New Brunswick Council Award for adult Members is a provincial honour reserved for acknowledgement of on-going Guiding service to province that is above and beyond the requirements of any particular appointed position held by the recipient.
Criteria
Nominees for The New Brunswick Council Award must be nominated by a supporting Council.
Nominees for The New Brunswick Council Award must be currently registered adult Members who hold an appointed position in Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada.
The service provided by the nominee for The New Brunswick Council Award must benefit Guiding Members, Adults and / or Girls, on a province wide basis.
The service provided by the nominee for The New Brunswick Council Award must reflect a considerable accumulation of time commitment and effort beyond the normal requirements of her appointed position.
Conditions
Each application for the award will be considered on its own merits by the New Brunswick Awards Committee and by the Provincial Council / Executive.
Final approval for the presentation must be given by the Provincial Council / Executive.
