Every member of Girl Guides in Canada is part of an international movement of 11.2 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 153 countries through the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

World Thinking Day (WTD) happens every year on February 22 to celebrate our global Guiding movement. It’s a chance for Girl Guides across Canada and around the world to come together and speak out on issues that affect girls and young women.

What is World Thinking Day

World Thinking Day is a celebration of 11.2 million girls worldwide that has taken place every February 22 since 1926. It’s a day for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world to make their voices heard and make a difference locally and globally.

World Thinking Day is one of the most important days in the Guiding calendar, and a chance for members to think about the big issues impacting youth worldwide. In the past, World Thinking Days have been focused on girl-driven global issues like poverty, inequality, and access to education.

World Thinking Day 2026 theme

As we celebrate 100 years of World Thinking Day, we come together around the theme of friendship! This is a chance to reflect on the friendships and bonds created in Guiding, as well as the global community we are all part of.

The WAGGGS activity pack leads girls through discussion and hands-on activities that help them understand their global community and consider how we can work together to create a better world, by girls.
