Now read it again. A better world…pause…by girls. We recently launched our new vision and that comma is important. That pause strategically elevates the importance of a girl to our world and our organization. The girl must be at the centre of everything we do.

Girl Guides of Canada–Guides du Canada (GGC) is searching for one (1) Director of Provincial Operations (DPO) who can support our Provincial Commissioners as they steward our adult members and girls to fulfill this vision and our mission to be a catalyst for girls empowering girls. Through passionate and focused leadership, we can ensure GGC is relevant and sustainable well into the future as a truly girl-driven organization. Every girl in Canada deserves a safe space where she can discover herself to be everything she wants to be.

What we need from you

We need someone with business knowledge, passion, change management, performance management and provincial operations experience, agility and commitment to diverse communities.

  • Business Knowledge You have a good understanding of GGC’s business and can support Provincial Commissioners with their understanding of the strategic plan, trends that impact GGC’s operations and financials.
  • Passion We need believers and promoters of our vision, mission, brand DNA, value proposition and strategic goals and strategies. The direction to recovery has been set and it’s “go time” to steward and implement this plan for change.
  • Change Management Change can bring both opportunities and challenges. Let us learn from your past successes in big change management endeavors
  • Coaching and People Management You have experience working with diverse groups of people, understand that differences are our strength and know how to positively motivate people. You have no concerns providing guidance and assistance to others.
  • Knowledge of GGC Provincial Operations We need someone who has a significant understanding of provincial operations at GGC. She demonstrates knowledge of the day-to-day workings within the provincial offices and provincial councils. In doing so, she has strong, positive working ties within the organization with all levels of staff and volunteers.
  • Experience We know that delivering on our strategic priorities will require added skills and strengths from the Director of Provincial Operations to support our Provincial Commissioners.
  • Diplomacy You understand that in a large organization there are always competing priorities and demonstrate an ability to shepherd important messages to varying stakeholders, helping to address their concerns and focus the efforts of leaders for the greatest organizational impact.
  • Strategic Though you have worked at the operational level, you truly excel in the strategic space, seeing the path needed to reach
  • Commitment We need you to commit the time to be an active and impactful Director of Provincial Operations. At GGC, this means approximately 10-15 hrs a week over a 3-year term from June 2022 - June 2025, with some days being more hours due to peak periods of activity. You must attend and Co-Chair the Operations Committee meetings (currently happening bi-monthly), meet with staff and attend the National Annual General Meeting each year. You also must be a member and supporter of GGC.

If you have the passion, experience and commitment please apply by Wednesday April 27, 2022 for the role of Director of Provincial Operations.

Please note your iMIS guiding record will only be used to confirm that you are a member in good standing. If you gained relevant skills or experiences while volunteering with GGC, please include these in your application, cover letter, and resume as applicable.

What happens after you submit?

The Nominating Committee will review applications on behalf of the Vice-Chair and consult with the Operations Committee. The following are key dates within the process:

Wednesday April 27th, 2022 DPO Application Submission Deadline
Thursday April 23, 2022 Schedule Interviews (possible, but not guaranteed)
Saturday May 6, 2022 Decision by Vice-Chair

All candidates who meet the full criteria will be presented to the Vice-Chair. The Vice-Cahir will appoint one individual. All candidates will be contacted to know the outcome of their application by May 17, 2022.
