Twinning in Ontario

When a Member Organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts form a partnership with another Member Organization to share skills, friendship and support to learn about each other’s country and culture, it is called “Twinning”.

Girl Guides of Canada, Ontario Council supports the Twinning Projects established by the National Council. This year and through to 2009, the twinning project is with the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Detailed below, is information about the Dominica Twinning Project and includes how Ontario is supporting the Adopt-a-Unit Project.

Dominica – Adopt-a-Unit
The Adopt-a-Unit Program with Girl Guides of Canada and Dominica is well under way.
To see what items have already been mailed to the Units in Dominica, a supply list has been posted and will be updated each month. To date, the following items have been mailed from Ontario: Click here to view list of items already sent.

To get your unit involved in the Adopt-a-Unit project, please check the schedule below for your Community’s adoption month. Remember our Guiding sisters in Dominica are in great need of our support each month. Please send your unit’s items for the project to your community office by the 5th of the month for which your community is assigned to ensure your wonderful items are included in the package being sent to Dominica. Dominica Twinning Project
The goal of the GGC Dominica Twinning Project is to help expand and strengthen the Guiding movement in Dominica. By taking part in this project, members of Girl Guides of Canada will learn about the country of Dominica, its culture, customs, language as well as many other interesting facts. They will also learn about Girl Guiding in Dominica and the similarities and differences with Guiding in Canada. To access the project, click here.
