Interprovincial Independent Trip Planning for Girls
To obtain instructions, please refer to the Safe Guide 2008 edition.
The Safe Guide and forms can be downloaded off the National website: http://forms.girlguides.ca/default.aspx under "Safe
Guide International Travel Forms".
To ensure maximum support of GM 2010, national
has stated that independent international and interprovincial
trips
are strongly discouraged during 2010.Trips that have been
given provincial approval to this point may certainly continue.
GM 2010 should be the first choice of destination for all
other groups considering travel in 2010. Any new requests
for independent travel must include clear rationale why
the trip is planned for 2010 rather than for another year
as well as what will be the participants’ involvement
in GM 2010, if any?
Local
Specialty Community Leaders Wanted…
Are you interested in traveling internationally or interprovincially with girls
from across the province but need help with the planning and organizing of
a trip?
Why not lead an International Local Specialty Community? You
can decide on your own destination or choose from a list of suggestions!
If you are a
Guider willing to travel with girls outside of
your own
Unit to lead trips to Canadian and/or international destinations and want
to find out how to get started and what kind of planning assistance you
will receive from the Provincial Office, please contact the Girl Program
Coordinator at program.coord@guidesontario.org or

Ontario International Trip Subsidy
Most groups planning Independent International Trips work hard to fundraise
a portion of their trip cost. Depending on the success of the fundraising
efforts, some groups may need additional funds to help offset the cost of
Independent Travel. To assist these groups and at the same time help encourage
the planning of more independent trips for girls, Ontario Council has approved
a Trip Subsidy Program for Independent International Trips.
This Subsidy can be applied for if required. Ontario Council
will provide a subsidy of $100 per participant if specific
criteria are met. As cookies are our prime fundraiser,
all groups asking for subsidy must participate in all cookie
campaigns from the start of their fundraising until the
trip date. To qualify for the subsidy, the following criteria
must be met:
Criteria:
•The trip must be a girl trip and at least 75% of the participants must
be girls
• The International trip must be over 72 hours in length
•The trip must be Provincially approved as per the Safe Guide
•Participation in all cookie campaigns from the time the IT.2-Intent to
Travel is approved
Available Subsidy:
• $100 per girl participant
• Subsidy of adult member participants will be limited to $100 per adult
required by ratio. Any other adult participants beyond ratio will not receive
subsidy.
If your Unit meets the criteria, upon receipt of your
approved IT.3 – International Group Trip Authorization,
download the Independent International Trip Subsidy Application
form to be submitted a minimum of two months prior to the
trip date. For more information on this process go to the
Ontario section of MemberZone.
