FAQ e-Learning

What is e-Learning?
An online training method for Guiders who are unable to attend a face-to-face training or find it more convenient. It is offered for Safe Guide, Orientation or Foundation Modules. To enter the training you need a PIN Number.

What is a PIN?
PIN stands for Personal Identification Number. Ontario Council provides full subsidy for it’s adult Members PINs when requested in advance of taking the training.
How does I get an e-learning PIN?
Click here to request a PIN number: https://secure.e-registernow.com/cgi-bin/mkpayment.cgi?MID=1213&state=step2direct&event=500000045121174

How much do e-Learning cost?
Ontario Council subsidizes the following online training for it’s adult Members or potential members:
• Safe Guide
• Orientation to Guiding (there no need to apply for PIN for this training as Ontario Council is charged directly for Members taking this training module)
• Foundation module (About the Girl, Programming for the Girl, Quick Start & Putting the Pieces Together)

Which type of training(s) do I pay for?
• Enrichment modules (with exception of Promise and Law, Mentoring, Girls United – Ontario Council subsidizes these trainings so they are offered free to it’s adult Members), OAL Trail or Blaze, or non-T.E.A.M. trainings

If I want to take all the Trainings that are subsidized by the Ontario Council will I have to request more than one PIN?
No, you can request a PIN with a higher dollar amount. Each module has a $5 value. Example: If you want to take Safe Guide, Orientation to Guiding, and all four components of Foundation Modules, the value of the PIN is $25. Remember Orientation to Guiding does not require a PIN as Ontario Council is charged directly by e-Learning when you sign up to take this module.

Does the value of the PIN need to be used all at one time?
Yes, the PIN cannot carry a balance, so when you log on for the first time with the PIN please ensure you are purchasing all the modules you will eventually be taking (enough modules to use the entire value of the PIN). For example, if the PIN has a $10.00 value, you must purchase all modules at the beginning to equal $10. You must purchase two (2) $5.00 modules, or one $10.00 module for a total of $10.00. Once you have used your PIN, it cannot be used again. You can take the trainings at your convenience from then on.

What if I order online using my credit card?

You are free to order online with your credit card but, you will not be reimbursed by Ontario Council.

What if I don’t complete a module after starting?
You have the option to bookmark it and return. Certificates are issued when you complete the course.. Please ensure you complete the module as the Ontario Council will still be charged for completed and incomplete trainings once the PIN is used.

Do I enter my iMIS number when you sign in?
Participants will not be asked to enter in their iMIS number when they sign in. They will be asked to enter their name, address, phone number and e-mail address.

Do I have to fax/send my certificate to update my iMIS record?

No, your iMIS record will be automatically updated by national GGC and the Learning Library on the 1st and 15th of each month. It is recommended that you keep a copy of the certificate of completion for your files.

Can Guiders do an e-Learning module together as a group?
Yes, they can take the modules together at one computer. However, after the group has completed the module, Guiders must log in with their own PIN and go to the beginning of the module and complete the scenarios and self-assessments. This will ensure that everyone receives their certificate and iMIS will be updated.
