PROPERTY
1) Where is the Camp Located?

Huron Bruce Rd. Take Hwy 9, north through Clifford. Turn left on Huron Bruce Rd., which was also called Howick Carrick Town Line. The camp is located 4-5 km west of Hwy 9.

2) When is facility available for weekend bookings?
The camp can be booked on weekends from the beginning of September until the end of June.

3) Accommodation: Indoor/Outdoor
Carlyle Lodge – Sleeps 30 in bunk beds. Rental Fee - $250 per weekend.
Carlyle Lodge is a wood building that is winterized and electrically heated so that it can be used year-round. It accommodates 30 people in 15 bunk beds. The bunks are in a large room on the upper level. There is also a washroom with a shower on the second floor. An outdoor balcony runs the full length of the building.
The main floor has a stone fireplace and a large activity room with a TV and DVD player. There is a heated mudroom off the end of the activity room. There is a well-equipped kitchen with an electric stove, microwave, refrigerator and stand-alone freezer.
There is a picnic shelter and tables outside Carlyle. There is also a covered woodpile and an outdoor clothesline and composter.
There is a fire pit close by in the playground.

York House – Sleeps 28 in bunk beds (bunks for 24 in a dormitory style room and bunks for 4 in a small bedroom) Rental Fee - $200 per weekend.
York House is a wood building that is winterized and electrically heated so that it can be used year-round. It accommodates 28 people in bunks. 4 of the bunks are for leaders and are in a small separate bedroom. It is a single story building.
It has a well-equipped kitchen with an electric stove, microwave, refrigerator and stand-alone freezer. A small island separates the eating area. There is also a living room and a bathroom with a shower. There is a dining shelter with picnic tables for outdoor eating. There is also an outdoor clothesline. The fire pit is close by in the playground.

HILLTOP – Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms upstairs and 16 in bunk beds downstairs. Rental Fee - $190 per weekend.
Hilltop is a house located off the parking lot. It is an electrically heated building. It has a well equipped kitchen with an electric stove, microwave and refrigerator and an eating area for small groups using only the upstairs. It also has a living room with comfortable sofas and a TV/DVD player. There are 3 bedrooms each with 2 single beds and 2 washrooms with showers. There are bunks for 16 downstairs as well as an activity/eating area for larger groups. There is a washer and dryer available. There is an additional refrigerator and stand alone freezer downstairs. There is a picnic table and clothesline outside.

Juniper – Sleeps 35 in 7 canvas platform tents. Rental Fee $10 per camper per weekend – Minimum of $120 per weekend.
Juniper site has 7 large canvas tents on platforms. It has a dining shelter over picnic tables. There is a campfire pit and individual fire slabs.
A building with a cement floor is on the site. It is a wheelchair accessible building. There is a fully equipped kitchen at one end. A large island separates the kitchen from the activity area of the building.
A comfort station with flush toilets, sinks and showers is located on this site. This building is wheelchair accessible.
There is a flagpole and two outdoor clothes lines. A shed houses patrol boxes containing cooking equipment for patrol cooking. There is also a composter, LDU and a covered woodpile.

Cedars - When tents are up – Sleeps 35 in 7 canvas tents and 15 can also be accommodated in the building – Rental Fee - $10 per camper per weekend with a minimum of $120 per weekend. (includes the building)
Thanksgiving to the third weekend in April – Cedarbrae sleeps 15 in the building – Rental Fee - $110 per weekend.

Cedars site has 7 large canvas tents on platforms. It has a dining shelter over picnic tables. There is a campfire pit and fire slabs. Propane stoves may also be used for cooking outdoors.
A comfort station with flush toilets, sinks and showers is located on this site. This building is wheelchair accessible.

Cedarbrae is a small winterized building on this site. It is electrically heated. There is a small kitchen with electric stove, microwave and refrigerator. There is also a bathroom with a shower, a small bedroom and a room that is used for eating activities and sleeping. There are 15 mats used for sleeping on the floor. There is a porch that is used as a mudroom.

TAMARACK– When tents are up – Sleeps 35 in 7 canvas tents and 15 can also be accommodated in the building – Rental Fee - $10 per camper per weekend with a minimum of $120 per weekend. (includes the building)
Thanksgiving to the third weekend in April – Tammy’s Place sleeps 15 in the building – Rental Fee - $110 per weekend.
Tamarack site has 7 large canvas tents on platforms. It has a dining shelter over picnic tables. There is a campfire pit and fire slabs. Propane stoves are used for cooking outdoors.
This site has a small hut with electricity. It has a refrigerator and cupboards.
A comfort station with flush toilets, sinks and showers is on the site. The building is wheelchair accessible.
There is a flagpole and outdoor clothesline on Tamarack. There are patrol boxes with cooking equipment for doing patrol cooking. There is also a composter, LDU and a covered woodpile.
Tammy’s Place is a small winterized building located adjacent to Tamarack. It is electrically heated. There is a small kitchen with electric stove, microwave and refrigerator. There is a bathroom with a shower, small bedroom and a room that is used for eating, activities and sleeping. There are 15 mats for sleeping on the floor. There is a dining shelter over picnic tables and a fire pit outside.

SUMAC – There are 6 platforms that rental groups can erect nylon tents on. Rental Fee - $5.00 per camper per weekend with a minimum of $50.
Sumac is a semi-wilderness site. There are fire-slabs, a firepit and a composter. A shed on site is used for food storage and patrol boxes. Water is available. This site has a latrine. There is no telephone or electricity.

HEALTH CENTRE
The Health Centre is located on the side of Carlyle Lodge. It contains
bunk beds for 6 people and a washroom with shower. There are no cooking facilities. It can be used as a Bunkie for groups renting Carlyle or York and requiring additional sleeping space.

The Pines Pavilion
This large open shelter is located across the road from the parking lot. It holds 18 picnic tables and is available to any group renting the camp.

The Summer Kitchen – Rental Fee $50.00 / weekend
This is a kitchen for groups wishing to cook for large groups who can eat in the Pines Pavilion. It contains a large industrial 6 burner propane range, large refrigerator, upright freezer and microwave. It is available when the tents are up.

4) Accessibility
Wheelchair access – Hilltop and Tammy’s Place are buildings for sleeping with wheelchair access. The comfort stations on Juniper, Cedars and Tamarack are also wheelchair accessible.

Winter Access – The driveway will be plowed during the winter to Hilltop, York, Carlyle and Cedars. The driveway to Tammy’s is not plowed, but is accessible down a hill.

5) Check in and Check out Procedure and Times:
The camp will be unlocked by 3:30 pm on Friday when the camp is rented. The gate may appear locked but the chain can be lifted off. Any buildings rented will also be unlocked. The custodian will visit on Sunday at 1 pm to check groups out. Those who need to leave earlier must ensure site is cleaned. When leaving, groups should lock the building and the gate.

6) Site Visits – Site visits can be arranged by contacting Steve Novak by email or phone ( stevenovak_5@hotmail.com ) or 905-846-2699 and arrangements will be made. Additionally, an Open House is held each year early in June. Many activities are open, as well as the waterfront and you are invited to bring the family for a day of fun at no cost. The actual date is posted each year on the Camp Wyoka website.

7) Site Garbage – There is no additional charge for garbage disposal. Garbage should be taken to the dumpsters in the parking lot. There is a dumpster for regular garbage as well as a dumpster for flattened cardboard. There are 8 recycling bins for glass and tins. Most sites have a compster for compostable garbage.

Equipment for Use:
1) Is firewood available – free or charged?
Firewood is available on each site – free of charge.

Rental of all items is arranged and paid with your camp rental and the equipment will be available on arrival.

2) BBQ’s and Coleman Stove –
BBQ’s are available for rent from the last weekend of April to Thanksgiving (when the tents are up). The cost is $10 each per weekend and includes propane. There are 2 very large BBQ’s also available for use in the Pines Pavilion only during the same time period for $25 each per weekend (each will hold 75 hamburgers).
Coleman stoves with propane are available for $6 each per weekend.

3) Canoes
11 canoes with PFD’s and paddles are available at a cost of $10 for each canoe for a weekend. There are also 11 kayaks available at a cost of $5 each per weekend. If rental has been arranged, the boathouse will be unlocked to allow access.

Bikes – There are 12 bikes and helmets available for rent at a cost of $10 each.

4) Snowshoes – There are approximately 22 pair of traditional style snowshoes available at a cost of $1 per pair for the weekend. If rental has been arranged, the snowshoes will be available in the QM area, below Carlyle.

5) Other equipment available for use:
The QM area, underneath Carlyle will be unlocked with a dryer available.
Tamarack, Cedars, Juniper and Sumac each have 4 well equipped patrol boxes available at no additional charge.
There is a playground with swings, tire swing, slide and zip line.

6) Program resource people for weekend bookings
The Climbing silo may be booked from September 1 to Thanksgiving and from the last weekend in April until the end of June. A trained facilitator will be provided for the session which will be 2 hours in length. 15 girls can be accommodated. Suitable for all ages. The cost of the equipment rental and facilitator is $60 and is booked with the camp rental.

Inquire regarding availability and costs of providing a lifeguard or High Ropes instructor.
