Camp Tillingwood - R.R. # 4, Embro, Ontario N0J 1J0
Water: Running water is currently not available
at Camp Tillingwood. Water for all uses must be brought
onto
your site. No water is to be put down any drain during
winter months.
Sites Available:
HOOT OWL LODGE - Largest of the 2 buildings which can
accommodate 22 people on the floor. There is a telephone
for emergency use only. You will be billed for any long
distance calls. Site has a separate lat with 6 seats. Dishes
and cooking equipment are provided. There is a refrigerator,
freezer and an electric stove. This site can also accommodate
a large number of tents.
CURRIE LODGE - Can accommodate 16 people on the floor.
Completely open concept with full kitchen containing, dishes,
cooking equipment, fridge and an electric stove. There
is a telephone for emergency use only as well. Separate
latrines seating 6. (These lats are shared with the Orchard
Site). This site can also accommodate tents behind and
beside the building.
ORCHARD SITE - Complete wilderness. An orchard was removed
to provide this tent site yet the name remains attached!
All sites have their own firepits. Both buildings are
supplied with dish detergent, bleach, oven cleaner, cleanser,
all purpose cleaner, rubber gloves and face protection
masks. There is a first aid kit for emergencies and groups
are requested to bring their own kits or replenish any
supplies they use.
We have 2 ponds at Tillingwood . The smaller of the ponds
(just inside the gate) may be used for water activities
if waterfront personnel are available according to Safeguide
requirements. The pond is shallow, not usually more than
4 feet at its deepest point when full, but is not really
suitable for swimming. This is a great place for pond studies
and provides a surface for skating in the winter months
which is great fun. The large pond is off limits altogether
as the bottom is unsafe. Lifeguard equipment must be out
at all times when people are at camp and this can be found
in the storage boxcar.
We have 2 railroad box cars on site. One rests between
Currie Lodge and the lats and contains equipment and games.
If any of the equipment or games are used, please place
back in proper spot. The 2nd railroad car is on Hoot Owl
Site and contains wood. All wood for campfires and cooking
are kept in here as well as the metal pails and shovels
for water and ashes.
All sites may be used year round. Please contact Booking
