Leadership Development Programs
These programs are targeted at teenaged campers and will assist young women in developing leadership skills, including supervision, motivation, conflict-resolution, and teamwork as well as camping skills. The Leadership Development Programs foster confidence and character education that is transferrable to all aspects of life. We encourage campers to “try” leadership programming at a camp that is not the one they have always gone to in order to learn new skills. There are minimum-age requirements for our leadership programs, designed to allow girls to progress through the different levels, though it’s not necessary to take one as a prerequisite to another. Specific restrictions are noted below.

Leadership Development Program One (LDP 1) - NEW
Immersed in Girl Guide values, you will learn about so many different areas of leadership andgain new skills but your biggest gain will be the amount you learn about yourself. You must be born in 1996, 1995 or 1994 to participate in this program.

Leadership Development Program Two (LDP 2) - NEW
Our second leadership program will build on the skills you learned in the first level and will introduce you to experiences where you get to shadow select staff members to gain a better understanding of what a camp staff team does. Additionally, the LDP 2 program will have the group working on their instructional skills in different program areas of their choice. At the beginning of our program, we will work to set goals with you and provide opportunities for you to meet your goals. You must be born in 1995 or 1994 to participate in this program.

Leadership Development Program Three (LDP 3) - NEW
Our one-month leadership program, the LDP 3 course, prepares you to become your best while passing along the skills, confidence and qualifications to enhance your leadership capabilities in a camp setting. The LDP 3 program focuses on specific instructional skills in many different program areas, allowing you to gain qualifications in an area of interest, develop personal fitness and will provide you with a thorough understanding of working in child-centered environments. Many leadership programs are suitable to be counted as the mandatory school volunteer requirement – check with your local school board for eligibility. This program encompasses the best of all Counsellor-in-Training and Leaders-in-Training programs! A certificate of completion is awarded at the end of this program. This program is for young women born in 1993 or 1994 only. Girls participating in this program at Camp Woolsey have an option of going home each Saturday and returning each Sunday during the month.

Leadership Development Program (Canoe Voyageurs) - NEW
This leadership course is a hands on program designed to teach young women how to lead canoe trips. Over the course of 2 weeks you’ll participate in a ten day trip to Temagami. Temagami is a beautiful area with many different canoeing experiences for the young leaders to learn about. We’ll have the opportunity to paddle amongst groves of old-growth forest and climb Maple Mountain. This is an excellent program for any young woman who would like to be a canoe trip leader in the future. We will focus on map reading, using GPS devices, safety and first aid, emergency procedures, programming, cooking as well as taking time for some components of the ORCKA Canoe Tripping qualifications. This program is designed to be a continuation of the LDP 3 program. As such, priority in registration for this program will go to persons registered in that program as well. If you are registering for this program and you have not registered for LDP 3, your application will not be reviewed until after March 1st. Due to the remote nature of this trip, this program is not suitable for girls requiring an epi-pen to manage an allergy. Participants must be born in 1993 or 1994 to participate in this program.
