This is an exciting opportunity for a Member to volunteer
her time to be the leader of her province and Chair of
the Provincial Council.
Work of the Position:
The Provincial Commissioner provides leadership in the
design and implementation of the provincial Operational
Plans that support the Strategic Plan of Girl Guides
of Canada-Guides du Canada. In her role on the Provincial
Committee of the Board of Directors, she has input into
decisions that support the implementation of policies
and programs at the National level of the organization.
In your role you will have the opportunity:
•
To implement the work of the Province, preside at Council
and Executive Committee meetings, encourage and support
the Council, be a member of the Provincial Committee a
committee of the Board of Directors, advise on issues,
champion decisions, provide key messages and solicit consultation
as needed
•
To provide support at all levels of Guiding throughout
the province and to support Provincial Advisers in their
work with National Networks
•
To promote Guiding through public speaking, media relations
and external networking
•
To create and maintain a positive climate within all relationships
and for effective operations
•
To vote in the Board of Directors elections
•
To work in collaboration with the provincial Executive
Committee and staff to administer Guiding in the province
within the policies of the organization
•
To work closely with the Deputy Chief Commissioner – Provincial
•
For personal growth, to enhance your existing skills and
develop new ones
We are looking for applicants who possess the following:
•
Experience in, knowledge of and a passion for Girl Guides
of Canada-Guides du Canada
•
Ability to see and appreciate the issues in context of
the nation-wide picture
•
Effective and proven leadership skills
•
Appreciation and understanding of risk management and experience
with conflict resolution
•
Commitment to maintaining a positive image of the organization
•
Ability to chair meetings and solicit views, opinions and
advice
•
An aptitude for thinking critically, methodically, analytically
and procedurally and ability to make decisions
•
Ability to work with a team and independently
•
Initiative
•
Excellent communication and organization skills
•
Strong oral, written and comprehension skills
•
Computer skills - E-mail, sending and receiving attachments,
Windows and common Microsoft applications

Ability to communicate effectively via teleconference and
E-mail.

Provincial Property
Extreme Specialty Community
A new opportunity to work along side the Property Adviser
and Property Manager.
The key purposes of this community are to:
- on behalf of Ontario Council, oversee the
management and operations of the physical property across
Ontario.
- provide resources, direction and support to
the LPESC to operate safe, clean, equipped property for
the
delivery the camping program to GGC Members
- ensure that all legislative requirements and
ways of work as they relate to the property are complied
with.

We are seeking 4 - 6 individuals (either Members or non-Members)
who possess the following:
- Property management experience
- Insurance experience
- Understanding of budgeting and finance
- Aptitude for thinking critically, methodically,
analytically and procedurally
- Strong team player with an ability to be an
active contributor at meetings, on conference calls and
to also
work independently on the ongoing work of the community
- Experience working with adults including volunteer
recruitment and management
- Strong communication skills – oral,
written, email and teleconference
- Solid time management skills - ability to
prioritize, be creative, and take initiative
- Enthusiasm and commitment to growing the camping
program at our camps

Administrative Community Leader
Looking for a brand new opportunity? We are seeking women
eager to support the Guiders in the following Communities:
2,3,5,9,15,17,18, and
30 Each Administrative Community
Leader (ACL) will work in partnership with the Unit Administrator
and Specialty Community Members of her choosing.
We are seeking Guiders who:
· Enjoy supporting and working with others · Demonstrate
a friendly, caring manner
· Are
skilled communicators
· Can help resolve
conflict
· Are effective
time managers
All Administrative Community Leaders will receive training
in this new role. There is a three-year term for this position.

Girl
Advisory Forum
Are
you a 3rd year Pathfinder or
a Ranger or do you know one?
Now
is your chance to have a voice
and join Ontario Council's
Girl Advisory Forum. There
are 7 positions available for
2010-2011! The Forum provides girls aged 14-18 from across
the province with a chance to shape the future of Guiding
in Ontario. Pathfinders, Rangers and Trex members are all
welcome to apply. The innovative, enthusiastic and dedicated
girls selected will assist Ontario Council with its decisions
about long-term goals, program challenges, trips, events,
and more. Girl Advisory Forum members will share their
opinions and those of other girls in Guiding with Ontario
Council and will meet October 17-18, in Toronto for
a weekend of sharing, learning and fun.
Girl Forum members communicate by e-mail a few times a
week, meet in person at least once a year, and conduct
focus groups with other girls once or twice a year. Ontario
Council encourages all girl members who were born in the
years 1993-1995 to apply.
Guiders, please ensure that every eligible girl who was
in your Unit in 2009-2010 knows about this opportunity
and that every interested girl receives an application

Provincial Specialty Communities:
Each of the Advisers is working to create a specialty
community at the provincial level. Working with other individuals
passionate about the section will help manage the time
commitments of the role and will also draw on a broader
range of skills and experience. The result? Better Guiding
for our girls and adults!
If you have a special interest in any of the sections, please contact
the appropriate Adviser
FINANCE
Are you a ‘numbers’ person? Do you have good
communication skills? Do you enjoy working with adults? We
need your expertise for four new specialty
communities.
* Finance Support Community – to provide
support for Unit Guiders in the use of the centralized banking
system and
to assist in resolving financial questions and issues that may
arise at the Unit level
* Unit Financial Review Community – if you
have accounting/bookkeeping training your assistance in conducting
year end Unit reviews is needed
* Finance Extreme Specialty Community – when
major problems arise, we need assistance to investigate and resolve
the issues.
*Finance Support Independent International Trips – if
you have bookkeeping skills and are familiar with travel in Guiding
we are looking for individuals in conducting reviews after the
trips are complete.

Provincial Cookie Specialist
The Cookie section is seeking a group of Guiders who are
passionate about cookies to serve on a Provincial Cookie
Specialty Community Group. This group of Guiders will assist
with the management of cookies within the local
community groups including arranging selling venues and
blitz campaigns
for the units in the vicinity. This Specialty
Group will work closely with the Provincial Cookie Adviser
and the
Cookie Coordinator to ensure the smooth operation of cookies
throughout the province. Candidates should possess strong
communication and organizational skills. No previous cookie
experience is required; however knowledge of the cookie

International
Local Specialty Community Leaders - ONGOING
Are you interested in traveling internationally or
interprovincially with girls from across the province
but need help with the planning and organizing of
a trip? Why not lead a local specialty community – travel group!? You
can decide on your own destination or choose from a list of suggestions!
If you are a
Guider willing to travel with girls outside of
your own unit to lead trips to Canadian and/or international
destinations and want to find out how to get started
and what kind of planning assistance you will receive
