Adult Membership

Women join Guiding to make a difference in the lives of girls in their communities. It’s a chance to make new friends and gain new skills. Membership in Guiding also makes you part of the largest organization for girls and women in the world.

We welcome your interest in Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada. You may have a few hours a week, a month or a year to provide leadership and there is a place within Guiding for you to make that valuable contribution. Whether you wish to work directly with the girls in their unit meetings or you wish to contribute in a specific area of expertise, there is a role for you! Previous experience working with youth is not needed.

Girl Guides has a wide range of volunteer positions available to women 18 years and over who wish to be members of the organization and share their time and talents. For those interested in working on a regular basis with a group of girls whether they be Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders or Rangers, there are many opportunities for you to be a Unit Guider (leader).

Being a Resource Guider, someone who provides specialized programming to Units, is a great match for those who need a more flexible schedule or who have a special skill (anything from canoeing to international travel to dance) that they want to share with many girls.

A Community Guider is an experienced leader who supports several Guiders living in her vicinity. She is available to share meeting ideas, to answer questions, to fill in when another Guider is unavailable for a meeting. A great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with adults!

Link is for women from 18-30 years who may not have the time for Unit Guiding at the moment but are keen to maintain their connection with Guiding. A way to stay connected with other young women! Link Members may also hold positions such as Trainers, Unit Guiders, task group members.

Trefoil membership is for adults from 30 to whenever! Belonging to a Trefoil Guild is a way to connect socially with others, a way to support girls and Guiders through such activities as fundraising, event planning. Like Link, Trefoil members may also hold other positions.
